January – Start a New hobby
Can it even be a goals list without something fitness related for January? Lol jokes, forget that!
It’s January, and gyms are probably packed (if they’re even open), why not challenge yourself to take up a new hobby instead?
Let’s start the year lightly. Maybe paint, or try a new sport, even a new board game; anything.
February – Read a Book!
Try and read at least one book this month.
Personally, as a business major, I find books relating to business and finance really interesting. But reading any kind of book is a good habit.
If you are already a bookworm, try a new genre, or if you’re new to reading, choose an easy read that interest you, autobiographies are great also.
March – Become more Eco Friendly
This is a great goal to start in 2021, but you should keep it up throughout all months!
First of all, try and buy plastic-free items or at least avoid the packaging and choose paper or glass instead.
Composting food waste and anything that can decompose is also a great thing to start doing!
You should also shop for long-term eco-friendly products, such as a bamboo toothbrush or shampoo bars. Click here if you would like to read more about how to be more eco-friendly as a college student.
April – Think of Future Plans!
This one can be personal to yourself, but think about future plans!
This can mean exploring jobs when you graduate, internships, or anything else related to your career building!
I’ve always wanted my own business, so, instead of researching jobs, I think of new business ideas, research the market, and review the competition.
Not ready for this? Looking up summer holiday destinations also counts as the future ;)
May – Fitness
Alright, we all knew this was coming for one month. The weather is getting nicer, so maybe it’s time to stretch the legs a little more and get that summer body ready.
Again, this really depends on you personally, but why not try running, cycling, or even going to the gym once a week.
Set yourself targets, and push yourself. You will be surprised at what you can do, but try to keep this up past May!
June – Manage your Finances and Save
Although this may not seem the most fun goal on the list, it’s important nonetheless.
Managing your money, recording your spending, and saving where you can is crucial to build wealth!

July – Quit phones and Electronics
Ok maybe not for the whole month; I couldn’t do that either. But how about every Sunday or whatever day of the week you prefer?
Put away your phone, go for walks, hang out with friends, or play board games. It is summer after all so do we really need to refresh Insta for the 10th time?
August – Raise Money for Charity
This is a great thing to do, all charities appreciate any help and effort. There are various ways to do this.
Remember how you started running more as the goal for May? Now is the time to implement it; why not run an event such as a 5k, 10k, or half marathon?
If this is too tough, why not run 1 mile every day of the month, or walk 10,000 steps per day. After all, it’s for a great cause.
September – Get ready for going back to college!
The best way to start college and university, or continuing it, is by being organised.
The goal for this month is to get a planner and to set goals for the academic year. It’s also a good time to start a bullet journal for your academic planning if you’re into being organized and artistic.

October – Follow a new meal plan!
Number 10 of our monthly goal ideas is to try new things when it comes to food. Depending on your lifestyle, I’ve got a couple of ideas for you.
First of all, why not attempt to go vegetarian for the month? This is a great goal to reach while becoming healthier.
If that is not for you, you can try a new dish every day for a week or stop eating pizza every day.
Where possible try different food from different cultures and meals that are healthy!
November – Spend More Time with Friends and Family.
November can be a tough month with the lead up to exams.
The goal for this month is to really take advantage and see your family, do stuff with your friends, and really make the most of your time.
Some people get obsessed with studying for those upcoming exams but don’t stress and still have a great, sociable month. (Of course, you should still study depending on when your exams are, but also take breaks and be social!)
December – Volunteer
Like a lot of these goals, the exact month doesn’t matter too much, however, December is a great time to give back.
Last on our monthly goal ideas list we got volunteering. Why not volunteer in the holidays and help out at a homeless shelter, help with cleaning the local community, or anything else!
This will really influence other people and make their lives easier, and that’s the best thing you can do in the holiday season.
