Welcome back! Today I will be talking about my trip to Amsterdam, giving you my Amsterdam Bucket List and things to do in Amsterdam!
I visited the city for 3 days when I was touring Europe by train with an Interrail ticket, so if you’re interested in my whole trip, read my guide here!

Let’s get started right away! (By clicking on the bucket list items you can get to the location on google maps!)
WALK JORDAAN
Jordaan in honestly my favorite neighborhood in Amsterdam! But that isn’t a secret. The pretty houses here are super famous!
I loved just strolling around the area, taking pictures and enjoying the cuteness of this place!
TAKE A CANAL CRUISE
This is still on my list!! The weather wasn’t too great when I visited, so I didn’t get to go on a canal cruise. But next time!
DAM SQUARE
The Dam Square is the most known and biggest square in Amsterdam, and is located right in the center, close to the central station (which is really pretty too btw!)
THE ROYAL PALACE OF AMSTERDAM
The Royal Palace of Amsterdam is actually part of the dam square! It’s a beautiful building and a nice spot for some pictures.
GO TO A COFFEESHOP
I just had to add this to the Amsterdam bucket list since that’s one of the things Amsterdam is famous for!
If it’s not your thing (it isn’t mine), you can also just visit a normal cafe and enjoy some Dutch specialties and have a good coffee.
VONDELPARK
To be honest, I was really surprised by many things about this park!
- It is huge!!!
- There are soooo many people there. Like what?
- It simply reminded me of Central Park
ANNE FRANK HOUSE
Guys, if this museum is one you wanna go to, please get your tickets far in advance! There is only limited space in that little house and tickets are sold out really fast. But for sure an interesting experience.
RIJKSMUSEUM
This Dutch National Museum is all about arts and history. If you’re someone who loves to experience the culture completely, this is your place to be!
(Other than talking to locals and not doing touristy things..but well this post is all about those! haha.)
ALBERT CUYPMARKT
This one was one of my favorites! The Albert Cuyp market is a market with all kinds of souvenir shops and food stands (Dutch Food!!!).
Make sure to come here for your souvenirs and your Amsterdam food test! (Do you do that too? I always try the most local food I can get!)
DE HALLEN
Talking about food.. you HAVE TO visit the food halls in Amsterdam! It did remind me of a university food hall but way cooler looking!
They have all kinds of food and it’s also a good way to meet some locals!
EAT A STROOPWAFFLE
Aaaaaand more food! Stroopwaffles are famous Dutch waffles. It is almost like a thin waffle sandwich filled with caramel. And gosh it’s sweet! But it’s so good too!
POFFERTJES
Another Dutch specialty are poffertjes! It’s tiny pancake “balls”, topped with powdered sugar, or even fancy toppings. So yummy!

WALK THE BLOEMENMARKT
The Bloemenmarkt can also be translated to “flower market”, and is so much fun to go to!
Although it is just a simple market, there are a million different kinds of seeds you can buy as souvenirs for your friends and family. It’s something different!
RED LIGHT DISTRICT
This one is a little difficult, because it’s super famous and a total must on a bucket list. But it’s just nothing for everyone!
All I can say from my experience is “interesting and weird”. That’s my description. Any other opinions?
MADAME TUSSAUDS
If you’ve always wanted to visit one, Amsterdam has it!
A’DAM LOOKOUT
The A’Dam Lookout is an elevator with a light show to a rooftop with a restaurant! It’s a super cool place to go, especially if you like views! They also have an over-the-edge swing up there. Would you try it?
VAN GOGH MUSEUM
For the museum lovers, another one! Amsterdam is full of art related museums, and especially this one is pretty famous and deserves its place on the Amsterdam bucket list!
RENT A BIKE
Last but not least, rent a bike! Warning: Locals have special ways of riding their bikes and have it all figured out. They have their systems. So if you’re not completely comfortable riding bikes, maybe do it farther from the city.
What I would recommend is renting a bike and riding it to Lisse!
In spring there are amazing tulip and flower fields there. If it isn’t Spring when you go, you could pick out another place to ride a bike to!
It’s super fun and you don’t get stressed because of fast riding locals in small streets.
This was my Amsterdam Bucket List! Now you know the top things you’ll have to visit in Amsterdam.
I know it is way shorter than usual, but I thought you should spend more time planning your actual trip than reading blogs for hours! You can go back and click on the titles to get to the exact locations, so you can plan your trip to Amsterdam even faster.
