It’s the new year or a new semester? Time for a new bullet journal setup for college! These spreads can also be used in high school or for masters programs, it’s up to you how you customize them!
Let’s get started!
1. The Cover
This is always my first spread in a new bullet journal! I love making creative covers, but if you want something simple you can also just write a quote or the year on that page.
Here is an example from Pinterest:
2. Year At A Glance
This bullet journal setup page is usually my second. Creating an overview of the months ahead is really useful when it comes to referring to dates throughout the year or your semester.
Here is an example from Pinterest:
PS: If you copy one of these for your own journal, keep in mind it might not be for the same year as the one you’re in right now, so always double-check the dates!
Also, if it’s too tedious for you to write out all 12 months, there are stickers you can get to avoid that.
Here is a 2022 sticker pack from Etsy that you’d love!
3. Your Goals
The third spread for me is always my goals page. I love writing out my resolutions and goals, and having them at the beginning of my bullet journal makes them easy to access.

4. A Bucket List
If you want to go a bit further, you can also add a bucket list to your bullet journal setup for college.
A bucket list differs from goals because it’s things you want to do, rather than achieve. You can add an overall college bucket list, a freshman year bucket list, or a summer bucket list!
5. Your Semester Schedule
Next in your bullet journal setup could be a schedule. In my bullet journal, it looks like a time-blocking schedule, but you can also set it up differently.
In this schedule, I add all my class times, lectures, club meetings, and anything I have regular times for either daily or weekly.
I do this twice, so on two pages, one for spring and one for the fall semester.
This can look like the weekly schedule on that left page:
6. A Grade Tracker
Grade trackers can be so useful when it comes to being successful in university. They allow you to have an overview of your current grade from different classes and depending on what tracker you use also an overall average.
Here is an example from Pinterest:
7. Habit Tracker
If you want, you can also add a habit tracker. This is a super helpful tool that helps you stay on track with your habits, to-dos, and anything you want it to track!
By tracking things like workouts, study days, etc., you stay organized and productive.
8. Study Tracker
Tracking your study sessions can really help you with time management and staying on top of your assignments, so if you feel like it why not add a study tracker to your bullet journal setup for college?
All you need to do is mark how many hours your study each day, so you reach your goal faster if you have one.

9. Budget Tracker
Another important thing to track as a student is your budget!
Especially in college, where money can get tight, it is crucial to know how much money you have left and where!
I personally also track my income in addition, but that’s just me. If you track your expenses you’re on a good path!

10. Class Overview
You might want to add this earlier in your bullet journal, but an overview of your classes is another helpful spread that you can create and make as colorful as you want.
You can add the class or lecture information, such as the classroom, professor/teacher info, and anything else you want to have written down and easily accessible.
Adding the most important deadlines could also be helpful!
11. Exam Preparation Tracker
I absolutely love this one! While it’s not a spread I have set up at the beginning of my bullet journal, I do add it around exam season, whichever month I am in at that time. You can do the same, or add one to the beginning of your bujo.
To track your study progress, just check off the boxes to see how far you got.
You can list the classes you have exams for and break them down into topics it will cover. That way you are perfectly prepared for your exam!
12. Essay Planner
The same goes for an essay planner. Either add it in your setup, or just whenever you need it!
It’s great for breaking your essay or exams into smaller pieces and making them manageable.
