Welcome to this post with college essentials on Amazon! These are my top 10 essentials I wish I knew about before my freshman year of college.
I hope they help you get an idea of what you’ll need to bring for your college dorm. Let’s get started!
College Essentials on Amazon #1: Mattress Topper
Mattress toppers are a college must-have! Dorm beds can be very hard and uncomfortable, so having this extra level of comfort makes a big difference!
You can check out some below:
College Essential #2: A Backpack
A good backpack is something you definitely need to invest in! It should last for a while and not break your back, so do your research and invest in a backpack you love and will use for years to come!
Here are my best picks from Amazon (but of course you can – and should – shop local too! Since local stores vary based on where you live, I can’t link that haha).
Amazon College Must-Have #3: Shower Caddy
A shower caddy is crucial if you have hall bathrooms or share a bathroom with your roommates!
You can simply take a shower caddy with you with your things without having to carry everything individually or leaving things in the shared bathroom.

College Essential #4: Planner
Having a planner is the first step to being organized and productive, which then make it so much easier to stay on top of your assignments and get good grades.
I personally use the bullet journal method, which means that I draw my own layouts, but that takes time, so here are some pre-made planners for you from Amazon:

College Amazon Essentials #5: Water Bottle
Having your own water bottle is going to save you so much hassle and money! If the water is safe to drink you can get a simple one, or if you’d like it to be filtered you can buy a bottle with filter in it.
I have a Brita water bottle with a filter, so it’s perfect for anywhere I go!
College Essentials From Amazon #6: Laundry Basket
Laundry baskets are another college essential from Amazon you should definitely have!
It makes your life so much easier when doing laundry, especially because your laundry room is probably going to be on a different floor, or maybe even in a different building.

College Dorm Essentials #7: Reusable Coffee Mug
Another college essential is a reusable coffee mug! We all drink a lot of coffee in college, so the plastic cups we get at Starbucks add up!
By having your own mug you can save money when going to Starbucks (they give you a small discount), and you feel better because you’re not polluting the planet.

College Essential #8: Closet Organizer
Closet organizers are such lifesavers if you have a lot of clothes, and your dorm closet is tiny!
They are great for utilizing all space you have, check them out below.
College Dorm Room Essential #9: Toolbox
A toolbox can be very useful when moving in, especially if you need some things hung (check if that’s allowed first), or to build together extra furniture you might want.
I have found a couple of good ones on Amazon, you can see them below:
Dorm Essential #10: Power Strips/ Extension Cords
If your dorm only has plugs in 1-2 places like mine did, you will want to have a power strip!
If you only have a phone and laptop to charge you might not need this, but I had 2 cameras I needed for my classes, and my phone charger isn’t 10 feet long either, so having an extension cord made my life much easier in that respect.
Check out these power strips below (they are all for the United States, but if you live in another country you can adjust the search:))
Those were my top 10 College Essentials On Amazon!
Comment if you’d like a part 2 with even more essentials, but these were the MOST NEEDED items that I wish I knew before starting college!
