Happy fall y’all! Today I will share some fun fall date ideas on a budget that are perfect for students and college students! I hope you’re as excited as I am for the coming fall and holiday season.
Want a Fall Bucket List for college?
1. Go Apple Picking
Apple picking isn’t just super fun to do, but can also save you money compared to buying apples at the grocery store. Get your fall wardrobe out and get some fun pictures there!
I went apple picking with my friends last year and it was so much fun, I think it’d be a great fall date idea for students too.
2. Bake Pies Together
How about using some of your fresh-picked apples for a homemade apple pie? Sweets and pies are more things I love about fall! Baking together is such a fun date idea on a budget, it really helps to get to know each other better and enjoy a good pie afterwards.
3. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Who doesn’t love pumpkin season? I definitely do! Going to a pumpkin farm and picking up a few pumpkins is always on my bucket list, and I can’t wait to go again as part of a date!
Places like that are perfect photo locations as well, so don’t forget your camera, polaroids, or even just your phone!
You can make the pumpkin patch part of a fall day out, where you go apple picking and hiking as well.

4. Take a Scenic Drive
How about a drive through a park or your city? Fall foliage is definitely worth seeing every year, and with some snacks in the car, it’s one of my favorite fall date ideas on a budget.
If you don’t drive, you can take a train too, I almost like that better since it is more special and better for the environment.

5. Go to a Sport Game
If your school or university has a football team and games, that is perfect! Football and other sport games are great fall activities to show some school spirit while having a fun night out with your significant other.
6. Go on a Hike
Hiking is an all-year love of mine, but fall is really the perfect season for it! To make it more special, go on a hike you haven’t been on, or try for a sunset! Always magical, especially when you go with someone you love (or getting to know).
7. Visit a Sunflower Field
I’ve been to one last fall and would love to go again! Sunflower fields are fun photo spots, and you can pick some for your dorm or apartment.
8. Carve Pumpkins
Carving pumpkins is definitely on my fall date ideas list! I can’t wait to get 2 pumpkins and make it into a competition to see who can carve the most creative elements into it!
Pinterest is a great platform to search for some inspiration, but don’t be afraid to get creative!

9. Volunteer Together
That may sound broad, but volunteering can be anything you are interested in doing. Schools and colleges value community service a lot, and there are tons of different things you can volunteer for with your date.
How about the animal shelter, planting trees, cleaning beaches, or at a food counter?
10. Make Gingerbread Houses
If that is too much Christmas for you for fall (not for me), you can still bake them to have some thanksgiving gifts for your families or even Christmas gifts. Cookies really don’t get bad that fast!
You can also make a gingerbread house and decorate it together.
11. Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes!
Let’s keep going with the food for now, shall we? Baking (and making food in general) is a fun fall date idea you can do in your free time or on the weekend.
Get a good-looking recipe from Pinterest and start making your own pumpkin spice lattes! I promise it will taste amazing! You can make this while your apple pie bakes in the oven?
12. Fall Picnic
Who doesn’t love some good food in the outdoors? If you aren’t up for camping quite yet, a picnic is a great alternative.
Bring some blankets, magazines, and snacks, and enjoy a fun outdoor fall date for students.

13. Go on a Hay Ride
I personally haven’t done this yet, but it’s on the top of my fall date ideas on a budget list:)
14. Run a Race Together
Whether you’re sporty or not, a fun race is always a good idea. You can research what sports events your city or area offers. That can be pajama runs, color runs, 3ks, 5ks, or even a half-marathon if you’re feeling energized.
You can both choose different charities to run for if you’d like, and raise some money for causes you care about.
15. Do a Campfire
If you are too busy with school and exams in the fall to go camping, doing a campfire in the back yard or a park is a fun date idea for fall. Roast some marshmallows, and drink some cider!
16. Go to a Haunted House
A haunted house is perfect to visit in the fall! October is spooky season and who doesn’t like it a little spooky and scary? (me actually)
If you have more time (and a bigger budget) you can also visit amusement parks or the universal studios during this time period, since those are decorated very well and offer special attractions during the spooky season. Perfect for a fall date!
17. Visit a Fall Fair
Fairs are best in fall! The smell of candy and caramel apples is just too good to miss. This is one of my favorite fall date ideas on a budget, and it’s perfect for college students!
19. Camping
I have mentioned camping a few times in this post, but I still wanted to give it some credit separately.
Whether you wanna camp a little further away for a whole weekend, maybe thanksgiving or fall break, for a night in a local park, camping is so much fun, especially with your significant other!
20. Go to a Farmer’s Market
Farmer’s markets were my best friend during my study abroad time in the US.
They had many foods I knew from home that weren’t sold in normal grocery stores. That was mostly bread, German chocolate, and salami, besides other things from many different countries.
Fall is a great time to try new things and visit a farmer’s market if you haven’t before! And, it’s a fun date idea because you can do challenges to find the craziest candy, or get each other something to try.
21. Go through a Corn Maze
Going through a corn maze is so much fun, whether you go with friends or for a date.
22. Go to a Halloween Party!
Halloween parties in college can be a lot of fun, so make sure to go if you want! If you’re doing long distance and you don’t go to the same college, there will surely be some clubs, bars, or some friends hosting a party you can both go to.

23. Binge-watch a series together
Fall time is movie time! If you already watch tons of series and movies, you can use your free time to finish those. If not, then start a new one with your significant other!
Having a show you only watch together is a lot of fun and makes your relationship even more special.
24. Go to a Drive-in Movie
I have never done this, but it’s on my list! I can only imagine how fun that would be as a fall date and I can’t wait to do this with my boyfriend when we find a place near us.
25. Game Night
I guess it’s been years since we all played board games! But how about an afternoon or evening playing some games with some hot chocolate and some music? That sounds like a pretty fun date if you ask me!
26. Watch the Sunset
Whether you’re a sucker for sunsets (like me) or barely get to see it, you should put watching the sunset on your fall bucket list as well as on your date ideas list.
You can take a hike during golden hour and watch the sunset from a viewpoint, or just go to a spot where it’s visible, whatever is available to you. Take some snacks and drinks, and voila, done is the perfect date night!
27. Throw your own Halloween Party
No friends are hosting a party or maybe you just wanna celebrate without anyone else? No problem! You can make a Halloween-themed date night with snacks, drinks, and games!
While that can be more interesting with more players, I am sure you can find some 2-player games you can play, or just make it into a scary movie marathon.

These are honestly so good! If you don’t feel like making them yourself, you can look for them in farmer’s markets or at the apple picking farm, you’re going to visit.

29. Make Pumpkin Pie
You can leave this one to Thanksgiving if you want, but if you have some extra afternoons, making one with your date can be fun and so yummy!
30. Go on a Bike Ride
If you have the chance, try to use your bike more often to save yourself some gas money and co2 emissions. If your area isn’t very bike-friendly, you can ride your bike in a big park or on a less busy road with your date!
Maybe you can go to some of these fall date ideas on a budget with a bike;)
