Ready to plan for spring break but not sure what to do other than to party at a beach? Here are the 10 best spring break ideas for college students!
1. Road trip through your State
If you don’t want to travel too far, how about taking a road trip through your state?
If your college is in a new state, that’s even better! Explore your new home away from home a little bit better and visit the attractions, parks, and cities.
Things you need to organize for a road trip are:
- car
- friends!
- some snacks
- hotel reservations or just wing it
- a GPS (or just wing it!)
- some money to spare for any emergency
This spring break idea is one of the most affordable ones and is definitely an adventure.
2. Romantic Getaway
If you have a boyfriend – it could also be your mom or best friend- you could do something alone and enjoy some relaxation.
How about a spa hotel or a cabin in the mountains? Trips like that will recharge you and get you ready for those finals.
3. Use the Train to Travel
No car or you’re tired of driving everywhere?
Well, how about taking the train as a way of transportation. It is fun, something new, and you see beautiful landscapes on your ride.
Yes, train tickets can be on the expensive side, but they don’t have to be, especially compared to plane tickets.
There are several pre-planned routes from train companies, such as the east coast, the west coast, New York and Washington D.C, and many more!
I’ll definitely spend a spring break like this, and will let you all know.
4. Go Abroad
Going abroad doesn’t have to be far away, especially if your spring break is only a week long.
But how about the Caribbean, Mexico, or Canada? Those are all extremely fun places that are worth visiting for a week and aren’t far at all if you live in the US!
In those places, you can choose to explore the culture, go to the beach, see big cities, party, or hike in nature.
5. Beach Vacation
Speaking of beaches, you could also spend your spring break in a typical way: partying at the beach.
And there is nothing wrong with that. Find a few friends, pick a good beach, and enjoy yourself. Just make sure to stay safe and sound!

6. Disney World
Disney World is the perfect destination for college students!
Though it can get pretty expensive, it’s a great time and you can visit all the theme parks and even Universal studios if you go for a whole week.
While Orlando, FL isn’t near the sea, you can definitely take a day trip to a beach to get away from all the crowds in theme parks.
7. Backpacking
I’d seriously love to do this one in a break too!
You can select a hiking route and hike every day, or just go on a road trip (or train ride!) with only a backpack with you.
You can sleep in hostels, which makes your adventure much cheaper, and exploring places that way is so much fun.
8. Language Trip
Wanna do something more meaningful than going to parties? How about going to a different country or city to learn or perfect a foreign language?
You could visit a Spanish course in Guadalajara, or French lessons in Quebec, where you can practice outside of the classroom and talk to natives.
9. Visit a Camp
How about going to a surf camp? Or an adventure camp in the wilderness?
Camps can be fun, and if your friends have other plans, there are group trips to those kinds of places and camps, so you won’t be alone.

10. Visit a Big City
Last but not least, you can visit one of the big cities in the US (or wherever you live).
You can fly to it, take the train, or drive and just do some touristy stuff and visit the surrounding area of the city.
That was the last one of my spring break ideas for college students! I hope the ideas were helpful and you have an amazing spring break!!
Stay safe and until soon,
