1. Go on a hike
Hiking is a great way to exercise without it being too exhausting. Trying new hiking trails is always fun, especially when it’s a sunset hike!
2. Go Camping
Camping is a great activity for any season (excluding winter lol). And you can do it for even one night and it’s an adventure!
3. Take a bike tour
When was the last time you have used your bike? Grab it and let’s go on an adventure. It doesn’t have to be far at all, just take some water and snacks and enjoy the sunshine.
4. Go kayaking
Any water sport activity can be great for spring, especially when it’s sunny out! Kayaking is especially great for spring because you don’t need to actually go swim in the cold water yet.
5. Have a picnic
A picnic is a great spring activity to enjoy the outdoors again after the cold winter! Grab some friends and food and head outdoors!
6. See a waterfall
I love waterfalls, so a good scenic hike is always on my bucket list! Just google “waterfalls near me” and hopefully there will be a nice one in your area.
7. Go strawberry picking
Depending where you leave, go pick berries or fruit that is in season! Here in Switzerland and Germany we can go strawberry picking around April or May, whereas higher north (Scotland, Norway, etc.) the season is later in the Summer.
Do a quick google and see what is in your area!
8. Grow flowers and plants
Spring is when many plants, veggies, and flowers are planted. Head to your local garden shop and get some seeds or flower bulbs and plant away!
It’ll be a fun, educational, and productive activity that will give you some home-grown veggies and flowers.
9. Go to a poppy field
Again, you need to check what grows and blooms in what month where you live, but poppies can bloom in May if the weather is warm.
Take a friend and a camera, and take some fun pictures!
10. Take a day trip somewhere new
Taking a day trip to a place you haven’t been to before can be a lot of fun. You can connect it to other things on this list, such as a picnic or a hike!
11. Plant a tree or volunteer
Spring is a great time to do something good for the planet!
How about volunteering and planting some trees? Or picking up trash by the beach? Earth day is also in the Spring, so make sure your university participates.
12. Make a sustainable swap!
I constantly make little swaps to improve my carbon footprint and reduce my plastic waste. For example, this spring you could switch to shampoo bars, a safety razor, or even the menstrual cup! There are tons of options, you just need to find what works for you.
Check out this post about how to be sustainable as a student.
13. Go to a sports game
If your local lockdown restrictions allow, go see a sports game! Nothing is more fun than a nice day out with friends, food, and some sports.
14. Run a 5k
Even if you are not a runner, a fun 5k would still be great! Whether it’s for charity or a color run, spring (and summer) is the perfect time for it.
15. Dye your hair
If you’re adventurous enough, why not dye your hair a fun temporary color? I’ve died my hair before, and spring is the best time in my opinion! 1. you don’t want pool water to bleach it weird in the summer, 2. yet you can still wear it outdoors since it’s warm!
For example, I’ve died my hair red, blue, purple, pink, and even green (although that was a fail haha).
16. Visit a national park
Whether you live near one or not, visiting a national or state park can be a fun experience. You can connect it with camping or a road trip!
Here are some spring break essentials!
17. Spring clean
I know this might not sound like much fun, but it’s so helpful!! A clean room or apartment can really make you feel much better and more productive.
Put your playlist on, and clean away!
18. DIY milkshakes
Have you ever made your own milkshakes? How about a cookies and cream one, or a white chocolate shake!
If you’re not into milky stuff, you can also make smoothies. And, of course, you can use any plant-based milk for the shakes.
19. Have a BBQ party
A grill party is so much fun, and it doesn’t have to be summer for it. Once it gets warm enough to sit outside, get some friends together and BBQ some food. Yum!
20. Go thrift shopping
Thrifting is one of my favorite activities. It’s so much fun, and it’s even better if you do challenges with your friends or siblings. Who can get the most stylish jeans? Make it a challenge!
21. Bake a cake
Craving sweets? Try to bake a cake with a new recipe. Maybe even an ice cream cake? Yum!
22. Do a workout challenge
After you ate that cake all by yourself, it’s time to work it off! (Jokes, you deserved it and there is no need for any qorkouts if you don’t want to!)
However, if you do want to get that summer body, it’s time to get started!
I personally love doing workout challenges that last 14-30 days. I know I’ll still need to keep going afterwards to maintain my fitness, but it’s a great motivation!
23. Dye easter eggs
DIY dyeing Easter eggs is so much fun, even as a college student. How about making your own natural dye?
24. Make money online
Another idea to use your time at home is to make some money. I have collected a lot of online job ideas for students here if you want to take a look!
25. Apply for a summer job or internship

26. Go for brunch
Brunch is so fun with friends. Everyone can bring something to contribute to a nice meal.
27. Have a bonfire
Is it just me or are bonfires great every season? Either way, it’s a fun thing to do in spring, whether with friends or with family.
28. Start running
Who said the gym is the only place you can work out? You can start (or continue) running to stay active and fit!
What I am currently doing is a running challenge, where I run every other day and always increase my intervals. First it’s running for 1 min and walking for 1. Once you feel more fit, you can keep increasing the time you run, and in the end you can run for 30 mins or 1 hour straight!
29. Play Mario Kart
Still have your wii? Play some Mario kart or other games that you know from your childhood. Maybe you can play on a video call with your friends to make it more fun.
